“Someone once told me the smile on my face gets bigger when I play the guitar.” Niall Horan
Have you ever noticed how much your soul and spirit love to play?
Can you remember a time as a young child where you were so immersed in playing and having fun that all time seem to disappeared? A moment where you found yourself immersed and lost in the energy of the moment?
Because your soul is infinite and born without limits it naturally and intuitively seeks out experiences and opportunities where it can dwell in its innate freedom. The moment we actively engage ‘play’ in our lives we liberate a greater sense of consciousness, wonder and liberation that enables us to reconnect with our true spirit, and perform our greatest work.
So where does your soul need to play today? Where have you been holding back and restraining yourself in the limitations of the ‘adult you’?
When we actively engage in play we step out of our fear of the past, and the anxiety of our future, and we become firmly rooted in the present. And it is here that we get to dwell even for a moment in the true magnificence of our soul and spirit. We get to recharge our energetic batteries and come back renewed.
The Practice
So your quest today is simply to find one way to entertain the spiritual inner-child that lives within you. To give him or her the permission to let go for an hour or two, and embrace, and embody some joyful, spirit filling activity that will bring you more fully alive. In this essence you may want to think back to your childhood and rediscover something that you loved to do, that you were so immersed in, that it filled you with joy.
Here are just a few examples from my own childhood:
The joy of playing cricket in the street
Catching tadpoles in the swamp at the back of our house
Building a bonfire for Guy Faux day
Building aeroplane models
Going to the park to play on the swings and rides
Spending time building sandcastles at the beach
Finger painting
Building sculptures out of play do
Creating underground cubby houses
The Affirmation
I now give my soul and spirit permission to play, to be free and to thrive.
The Question
Where does my soul need to play today?
The Thought
Today I honour the magnificent inner-child that lives within me.
